Precisely. Once, on the maintainer of kazunari (on her lj site jiyeop), I put up a list of latest subbed videos for her to add to the list. Someone replied to me and said that they cannot go to that page and kept getting the "access denied" message. I told them to go the subbing comm's main page to read the instructions etc, but you know the answer I got? "I keep getting access denied. I cannot go to the subbing group's page." How hard is it for them to delete all the numbers and get to the ".com" part and press enter?
This is why I keep saying that ALTHOUGH it is a good idea to put up new links in the original posts, 99 out of 100 people will not search the comments to do anything. They will hit enter and just write, "the link is dead, upload please". They will not check the comments. When anyone tells them to do that, they will tell you are crazy to suggest they waste time to go through ALL the pages of comments to find one link.
What's worse, they have to be told simple things like "check file size" because when they cannot unzip a file from a rar, they hit reply and say, "I get crc error, my computer says the file is corrupt. please re-up another file that is nor corrupt and won't give me error." They don't even realise that 99% of the time, the error happens because the file size is incomplete. They don't realise that they have to check file size after downloading just in case their internet connection fizzled out or something. And when I tell them to do that, they say, "But my computer says the file is complete. it downloaded OK. why should i do that?"
I once told someone that the latest winrar version lets them see password, but they say they cannot see the option even though I tell them to read everything carefully and even point them to the etrangestorm FAQ to help, but they still say, "I can't see it."
When most people are like, this plan to put new links in comment won't work. They just simply WILL NOT check the comments to see if anyone has put up new links. They will just type a new comment asking for the links to be replaced by the subber in the main post repeatedly.
And that's assuming links can be posted in the comments and not be marked as spam and deleted by the LJ settings. That's just 1 issue. There are so many more as I wrote in my original comment above.
